Study, July 2004
Since spammers are actively promoting spam emails on the
internet, many software applications have come into play to
avoid online users from being bombarded with unsolicited emails.
This has led to some of the permission based emails to be
inadvertently filtered by these applications. The percentage
of the filtration is shown on the chart in the main page.
Sophisticated mail servers block emails from mass
mailing servers
Sophisticated mail servers bounce back messages from
bulk email servers showing up on your servers as though the
email does not exist. To avoid this problem, servers that
support distinguished transmission of emails should be employed.
New lists deliver less emails
Depending on how email servers are programmed to deal with
new emails sent from bulk servers, can you predict the delivery
of your emails. Some email servers do not deliver new emails.
Hence, new lists have lower delivery rates.
Stringent spam laws block emails
If an ISP deems that your message is spam, it has every right
to block your message. The ISPs have no implied obligations
on behalf of any internet service provider to guarantee delivery
of all messages. These ISPs sometimes wrongly identify permission-based
emails as spam mails and block them.
Content based filtering
Content based filtering is one of the most commonly used filtering
programs. For instance, content-based filters block emails
that have same subject line to several individuals in the
same company. Promotional phrases, excess use of bright colors,
picture, images or larger fonts are assigned points by some
filters as indicative of spam.
Volume based filtering
Emails that exceed the per hour email send limit from the
same server are often blocked by volume based filtering. It
is therefore vital to ensure that your emails sending do not
exceed the specified limit for optimized delivery.
Outdated coding blocks emails
Most internet service providers block emails that have outdated
or incorrect coding. The HTML coding should comply with worldwide
web consortium standards. Hence, ensure that your emails meet
the legal obligations before executing your email campaigns.
